Keweenaw Chevy shuts out Copper Country Family Dentistry

SOUTH RANGE — In Portage Lake Little League Majors action on Thursday, Keweenaw Chevy jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back.
They tacked on an additional nine runs and kept Copper Country Family Dentistry off the boards in a 13-0 win.
The lead for Keweenaw Chevy began with two runs in the first followed by two more in the second. Dirks Randell started things off with a base hit in the first. He made his way home on a Caleb Jeannotte hit. Jeannotte then scored a batter later when Reid Kangas put the ball into play.
In the second frame, Drea Durocher led off with a hit for Keweenaw Chevy and quickly stole second. He scored on a Randell single, and then Randell made it 4-0 courtesy of Mason
Johnson.
In the third, the boys in yellow didn’t stop there. Swinging big bats that inning were Kangas, Brooks Bussiere, Quinten Schlief and Jax Karvakko. All had hits, and all scored moving the lead to 8-0.
They hit parade continued in the fourth with another five runs. Randell stayed hot and scored his third run. Also scoring were Johnson, Kangas Bussiere and Quinten Schlief.
While the scoring stopped at 13 for Keweenaw Chevy, their pitching and defense did not. Their pitching staff struck out nine over the course of six innings, and no one got to third base for Family Dentistry in this 13-0 shutout. In the eyes of the Keweenaw Chevy coaching staff, it was definitely a complete-game effort and win for the boys.
