Lange tabbed to CSC Academic All-America Second Team
AUSTIN — For the second straight year, Michigan Tech Huskies cross country and track & field standout Sam Lange has been named to the CSC Academic All-American Second Team, as was announced by the College Sports Communicators Wednesday.
Lange earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-America Second Team last year after earning First Team All-GLIAC and Midwest All-Region distinctions during the cross country season while being the GLIAC runner-up in the 1,500m, earning All-Region accolades and qualifying for the 1,500m at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where he placed 17th overall.
The Washington, Illinois, native is the lone Husky to repeat as a CSC Second Team All-American with Jani Lane (Second Team, 2015), Jason Saliga (Third Team, 2017) and Clayton Sayen (Third Team, 2023) being the other Huskies to earn CSC Academic All-America status in program history.
In 2024, on the grass, Lange concluded his career as the top-finisher for the Huskies in five of six races, earning All-Region (12th-place) and First Team All-GLIAC honors (sixth-place). He finished the season with an 83rd-place finish as the top-runner from Michigan Tech at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Sacramento, California. In the classroom, Lange boasts a 3.98 cumulative GPA while completing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a four-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete and a GLIAC Commissioner’s Award recipient in the fall.
The Division II Academic All-America program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America program.
