WestPAC announces All-Conference awards for cross country
CALUMET — The Jeffers Jets’ Cameron Anderson and the Houghton Gremlins’ Holly Cooke were honored Thursday afternoon as the 2025 WestPAC Runners of the Year. Anderson led a very strong Jets boys squad that garnered several honors while Cooke did the same for the Gremlins’ girls.
The Jets boys won the conference title, and Sam Kilpela was named Coach of the Year for his efforts.
Along with Anderson, Landon Larson, Branson Anderson, Blake Heltunen, and Brexton Kinnunen were all named All-Conference.
Houghton’s Ben Hemmer, Brandon Van Karsen, Anderson Limkemann, and Gabe Hjerstedt were also honored. They were joined by Henry Plummer and Simon Jaklin of Negaunee, Calvin Carlson, Jared Waterman and Breckin Jensen of Westwood, and Kemper Gearhart of Ishpeming.
On the girls’ side, Houghton was conference champion. Traci Welch earned Coach of the Year honors.
Along with Cooke, Sela Niska, Jovie Williams, Norah Woodruff, and Romi Mattson were all honored as All-Conference.
Hancock’s Jill Berg and Lydia Pelli were also honored, along with Calumet’s Elli Harju, Maija Keranen, and Bethany McParlan. Jeffers’ Remi Coponen was also honored.
Other honorees included Negaunee’s Nori Korsman and Riley Conklin, Ishpeming’s Sophie Mahoski, and Westwood Addy Hallum.
