CALUMET — Gavin Sturos had 17 points, after getting off to a hot start with eight points in the first eight minutes of the game, to help lead the Calumet Copper Kings boys basketball team to a 49-32 win over the West Iron County Wykons Thursday night in Calumet.
Blake Tarvis added seven points, as did Owen Ruonavaara.
The Copper Kings hit six 3-pointers in the contest, including five by Sturos.
The Wykons were led in scoring by Elijah Oberlin with 15 points. Josiah Parker added nine.
CHASSELL 60,
ONTONAGON 44
ONTONAGON — The Chassell Panthers boys basketball team defeated the Ontonagon Gladiators on the road, 60-44, in the Ontonagon Gym.
“We started out a little slow and closed out the first half hot to take a one point lead. After that the wheels fell off the wagon and we struggled the second half. We couldn’t seem to get our offense going and had a staggering amount of turnovers,”said Brittany Turin-Jilbert, coach of the Gladiators.
Eli Danison led Chassell with 20 points. Oliver Campbell added 18.
GREMLINS 62,
GWINN 28
HOUGHTON — The Houghton Gremlins boys basketball team topped Gwinn on Wednesday evening, 62-28 at the Houghton Gym.
Luke Hill led the way for Houghton with 19 points. Isaiah Lawson had 13 points. Kyle Primeau added 10 points.
