Just say 'no thanks' Editor: “Tax the rich, fund the schools”... or not. There is presently a petition drive going on to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot, known as “Invest in MI kids” The key talking point will be putting a “fair” “surcharge” on the wealthy by increasing the taxes on any earned income over $500K (single) or $1 million (marries filing jointly) and adding a billion dollars a year to education in Michigan. Retribution Editor: Since his 2016 campaign, Donald Trump has called the Bible his favorite book, a sentiment he reiterated during a March 2024 promotion of a patriotic-themed version. When asked to name a favorite Bible verse during his first campaign, he declined, calling it “very personal” and saying he didn't “want to get into specifics.” Humm. Dear Editor, Lately, you may have noticed petitions being circulated in the Copper Country by “Americans for Citizens Voting - Michigan” or “Committee to Protect Voters’ Rights”. These harmful anti-voter petitions would make it more difficult for eligible U.S. citizens to vote, primarily by requiring documentary proof of citizenship for voter registration. Heartfelt Thanks Dear Community, I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible support and kindness you all have shown. I got turned around in the woods, and at the time I was not nervous at all. If anything, I was worried about my loved ones and how they were doing. I knew I had to keep moving, so the next morning back on foot I went. I found myself on the edge of Poyhonen road around 3:30 & I sat there knowing someone at some point will ride by.
