October 9

• Better Together will meet at 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church on 400 Ingot Street in Hancock. The speaker will be Carol Jones and her topic will be, “What’s on Your Mind?” Special music will be provided by Stephanie Eshbach Veenstra and Katelyn Eshbach. A brunch will be served and there is suggested donation of $10. All proceeds over the cost of the event will be donated to local charities. October 10

• Boo on the Bay. 4-6 p.m. Downtown L’Anse. The L’Anse DDA will host Boo! On The Bay. Kids can trick or treat at downtown merchants and bounce on inflatables. All can enjoy wagon rides and cider, and performances by the Northern Witches at 4:45 and 5:15. There is no charge – all are welcome.

• Church Bazaar, Pelkie. Mission United Lutheran Church, 16463 Pelkie Rd., Pelkie, MI. is holding its annual Holly & Harvest Bazaar From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Brunch will be served at 9 a.m. and luncheon at 11 a.m. Homemade bakery, jams and jellies, Christmas decor and quality rummage will be offered.

• Rummage/Bake Sale, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Lake Linden United Methodist church, Lake Linden. Rummage sale items for sale by donation (pay what you like or are able)

Bake sale items are 50-cents each or $5 per dozen unless otherwise marked.

October 12

• Surviving the Holidays, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.Bethany Baptist Church, Dollar Bay. When you are grieving a loved one’s death or know someone who is, the holidays can be especially painful. The Surviving the Holidays seminar helps prepare for the upcoming season. There is no cost involved and each participant will receive a Surviving the Holidays booklet. October 25

• “A Toast to Big Annie!” at the Calumet Theatre begins with a free screening of “Red Metal: The Copper Country Strike of 1913” from 6:30 to 7:30. p.m. Bar opens at 6 p.m. Limited tickets are available at $65 per person to attend a fundraising reception in the ballroom from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. where you will be welcomed with piano music by Paul Behn, followed by an exclusive talk by author Steve Lehto, appetizers from Miscowaubik, live music by The Jones Brothers and a silent auction. Tickets are on sale now at calumettheatre.com or by calling the box office at 906-337-2610.
