Laurium Village opens roller rink

LAURIUM — The community is invited to kick off summer in Laurium with the opening of a roller rink at the Gipp Arena.

“It’s exciting to open up something that’s family friendly,” said Amy Schneiderhan, Village Council Member. “It’s a great opportunity for youth and families to get out of the house and be active.”

Laurium Village is extending an open invitation to all community members. Kicking off the season, the rink will open Saturday, May 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost to skate is $2 per person for 3 hours. All participants must have a waiver signed and on file. The Village asks that parents do not drop off their child without a signed waiver. Waivers will be available at the door or you can print one off the village website and Facebook.

Individuals are asked to wear masks in the facility, except while skating and maintain a 6 feet social distance when possible. Skaters are asked to bring their own skates including roller blades. Concession stand will be open for purchasing of pop, chips and candy.

“We are thrilled to offer something to our areas youth this summer,” Schneiderhan said. “Grab your friends, neighbors and come out and have some fun.”
