Ontonagon’s Harbor Town Players revival

ONTONAGON — After being inactive for over a decade, the Harbor Town Players are back and producing an original comedy titled, Alice in Yooperland.

Alice in Yooperland, written by Leo Siren, loosely follows the story of Alice in Wonderland with a very special twist: it takes place in Ontonagon. From pasties to yooperlites to Trenary toast, this hilarious production puts a Yooper spin on Lewis Carroll’s classic tale.

Even the creatures Alice encounters throughout her adventures in Yooperland are specific to the Upper Peninsula. The Harbor Town Players will not be the only ones to take the stage; several local businesspersons and municipal government employees will be making cameo appearances.

Alice in Yopperland will premiere Friday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

Additional shows will be on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb 20, at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased in Ontonagon at Miners State Bank, Citizens State Bank, Lake Superior Credit Union, Ontonagon Township Library, and online at ontonagontheater.org. Tickets will also be available at the door the night/day of the event.

The Harbor Town Players consist of around 20 community members from the Ontonagon area who volunteer their time and talent in order to provide live theater entertainment to local audiences. The goal of the group is to encourage community participation, on and off the stage, so that live theater productions will remain on the Ontonagon Theater’s stage for many years to come. For more information about the Harbor Town Players or Alice in Yooperland, contact Eric Hopper at 906-675-1516 or theater@ontonagontheater.org.

Starting at $3.50/week.
