Man dies in Tamarack City fire

OSCEOLA TOWNSHIP — an evening structure fire in Tamarack City on Monday claimed the life of a 60-year-old Hubbell man, according to a release from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. Monday, troopers from the Calumet Post responded to the call of the fire.

According to the release, preliminary investigation led the discovery of Glenn Wareham, who was deceased. The other resident of the home, Wareham’s mother, safely escaped the blaze.

The investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is currently on-going. The state fire marshall was on the scene Tuesday morning. He said it is too early in the investigation to offer any information.

Troopers, along with the Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit, were assisted by the Tamarack City Fire Department, the Hubbell Fire Department, Lake Linden Police Department, Calumet Township Fire Department Rapid Intervention Team, Dollar Bay First Responders and Mercy Ambulance.

No other details are known at this time.
