Hancock police: Finlandia buildings vandalized Sunday

HANCOCK — Hancock police are looking for the suspect in the weekend vandalism at two former Finlandia University buildings.

Around 4 p.m. Sunday, the person sprayed four graffiti tags on the outside of Nikander and Wargelin halls, said Hancock Police officer Donny Lusty.

The police department posted surveillance photos of the suspect on its Facebook page Tuesday morning. Photos of the graffiti were not included, as some of them contained obscenities, Lusty said.

A few leads have already come in, which officers are sifting through now, Lusty said.

“The community outreach has been amazing,” he said. “Hopefully we can contact each one, one by one, and figure out who it is.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the department at (906) 482-3102 or through direct messaging the City of Hancock Police Department Facebook page.

Starting at $3.50/week.
