HOUGHTON — A Wisconsin man has been declared competent to stand trial for the December murder of a Hancock Township man. Jacob Kempainen, 21, of Hartland, is accused of fatally shooting his grandfather, Alvin Kempainen. The 86-year-old was found dead of a gunshot wound on Dec. 19.
