To the editor:

What a record year for Simple Kindness for Youth (SKY)! We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of individuals, organizations and businesses in our community. Our friends have supported us in so many ways with their time, talent and finances.

We would like to recognize the professionals who work with children in our area for taking the time and personal interest to submit grant requests. These grants provide access to materials or activities that allow children to feel successful and accepted in school.

So many others in the community have provided financial support to promote the well-being of our youth. Without these generous donations, SKY would not be able to fund grants for things like musical instrument rentals, sports equipment and fees, school supplies, clothing, field trips, special needs materials, access to extracurricular activities and so much more.

We sincerely appreciate the individuals, groups and churches who loyally continue to donate on a regular basis to help local children. And this year we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of financial support from many organizations. We would like to thank all of our amazing donors and in particular recognize the very generous support of the following: Portage Health Foundation, Portage Health Auxiliary, Keweenaw Community Foundation, Flagstar Foundation, Copper Country United Way, United Way of Marquette County, Baraga County Community Foundation, Houghton Lions Club, Chassell Lions Club, The Benevity Community Impact Fund.

We could not continue our mission to support local children without you. Thank you!
