Twenty-three teams were brought to the area for a recent softball tournament.  Listening to the sports wrap-up on Monday morning (6/29) I heard the coaches talk about the 3-day event held at the Driving Park and how the City of Hancock had done an excellent job preparing the fields.  Someone, somehow derived a format to facilitate 23 teams, 3 age groups (U10, U14, U18), and 2 fields.  Remarkable and impressive!  What’s more impressive is that the local U10 team were champions in their division.  I looked forward to seeing this reported in our paper, and I am now asking either the coaches or parents to submit a photo of the U10 team ~ or all 3 teams ~ to the DMG so we can see our local “Sheroes.”  With ubiquitous cell phones there must be dozens of pictures, and I suggest to the coaches with ensuing events to submit your results and photos directly to the Daily Mining Gazette to make things easier to cover future accomplishments by the youth in our area.
