One blood/one race

What in the world is happening at the Disney Studios? Have they gone completely insane? My understanding is that a remake of Snow White is in progress. It should be at theaters in 2024. The moral of the story will be changed from vanity to one of race. Such utter impudence. Hollywood needs to make its own befitting fairy tale story about critical race theory.

Is our value found in the shade of our skin or how we compare to others? Emphatically no! The Bible teaches that each of us is made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27). Mankind is very special to God. We not only have a body created from the dust of the earth, but we also possess a consciousness (created soul) and an eternal spirit capable of communicating with our creator.

And just like there is variety in nature, e.g., flowers, trees, animals, insects, etc., there is variety in humans as seen in the various skin shades. Bottom line: we all have the same kind of blood. Cultures are different, too, but our blood remains the same. Acts 17:26 says, “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth …” The concept of “race” has no basis in Scripture.

We can rightly talk about people groups, but only with the understanding that these groups represent what the Bible refers to as “tribes” or “nations.” People do have ethnic and cultural heritages that can be honored and celebrated. But we are all one blood. Even in the midst of our differences, we are all the same.

All human beings are related. We all can trace our ancestry back to the first man, Adam. As descendants of Adam, we are all sinners. As sinners, we are in need of a savior (Romans 5:12). Jesus Christ, the Last Adam, was born as a man, as a descendant of Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45). Because of this birth, he was able to serve as our redeemer.

Back to the moral of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the beautiful stepmother is so proud and haughty that she can’t accept anyone else being better looking. When her magical mirror tells her otherwise, it drives her to envy, cruelty and even murder. Ironically, the story’s moral lesson that our culture could greatly benefit from is that our appearance can bring out our evil side.
