Faith Perspective: The credibility of Jesus Christ

Because things are getting so bad in America and the entire world, people are talking about the end of the world, i.e., the last days. While it is a good thing to have revivals in our churches, we must understand that revivals won’t heal our nation nor the world. Yes, some people will be brought to salvation through Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches we should do this.

However, we must also be aware of the numerous Bible prophecies that will occur during the end times. We’re told in Luke 21:11 “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.” An increase in natural disasters is the warm-up to what’s coming, i.e., the birth pangs spoken of in Matthew 24:6-8.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 says people will follow false teachers. We’re currently living in a hedonistic and materialistic society. People love themselves more than God. Abortion, drug abuse and child molestations happen daily (read 2 Timothy 3:13). This apostasy must come or Christ won’t return. Modern technology is fulfilling much prophecy via computer chips and through the internet, radio and television (Mark 13:10).

Political signs such as Israel’s restoration in 1948 might be the single most impressive fulfilled prophecy ever. Jerusalem, the center of geopolitics, stands alone against her enemies. Read Zechariah 12:3 and Matthew 24:6-7. God always gives ample warning before pouring out His wrath (2 Peter 3:9-10).

God will deal with sin either by grace or by His wrath. John 3:36 says, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” People who don’t accept Jesus Christ as their savior will remain under the Lord’s wrath.

The requirement: Humble yourself, repent from the sins in your life and put your faith in the Lord Jesus, recognizing that He died for every one of your sins, and raised Himself from the dead. That’s credibility! And that’s your only hope.
