Houghton County Board Editor: It seems our commissioners do what they please with our tax dollars: the purchase of the church property on Sharon Ave without any public input. Now they want to spend more money to tear it down without any public input. Is there any sense to this with this kind of government? Why do we need them or why do they us except for a check book? New Jail, rinse, repeat Editor: We have been dealing with the seemingly non stop new jail conversation for some years now. Might I suggest part of the problem is the transperancy into our local legal issues or lack of over the years. We used to see regular police & courts that gave an insight into how many and why we might have an over crowding issue. But that got removed.
