To the editor: The Baraga County Republican Party letter to the editor was predictable political spin. The BCRP praised the radical right-wing, anti-government Baraga County officials for refusing to enforce lawful orders that are designed to slow down the spread of the coronavirus to protect peoples’ health. It is nonsensical for the BCRP to characterize the Baraga County elected officials’ action as brave and supportive of small businesses and residents. To the editor: I join a growing consensus of voices that are calling for the resignation of our representative to the U.S. House of Representatives, Jack Bergman, for his participation in the storming of the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6. A number of letters to the editor in the Gazette recently have called for his resignation, and there is a Facebook poll set up to determine how many of his constituents think he should resign. Council does not speak for us

To the editor: We, the medical staff of Baraga County Memorial Hospital, bring your attention to a document, titled the Baraga County Manifesto and signed by county officials. We received a concern from a community member who had read the Manifesto. She was worried about whether it would still be safe to come to the hospital, thinking the Manifesto required us to change our practices. To the editor: This is in regard to the recent letter sent by Baraga County officials to the State of Michigan—the infamous “enough is enough” letter. They are right that enough is enough.
