Finlandia watches Vikings march on

MANKATO, Minn. — The Finlandia University men’s basketball team (2-12) lost 116-63 to Bethany Lutheran (11-2), Tuesday afternoon at North Gymnasium. For the first four minutes, Finlandia and Bethany Lutheran slugged it out.  Sophomore Noah Prestia hit a layup to make it 10-4, BL at the 16:02 mark.  The Vikings scored 10 straight to effectively end the game. Lions fell Lumberjacks in overtime

HANCOCK — Sophomore Brendan Erickson got the game-winner in overtime as the Finlandia University men’s hockey team (2-9-1) beat Northland (1-13-1) 2-1, Tuesday night at the Houghton County Arena. Viktor Wennberg and sophomore Dakota Meyer put on a clinic as they had numerous great saves the entire game. At the 9:36 mark, sophomore Garrett Alton scored to put Finlandia on the board first. SUPERIOR, Wis. — 2022 went out with a bang as the Finlandia University women’s basketball team (5-9) knocked off St. Catherine (5-3) 91-82 in double overtime, Saturday afternoon at Mertz Mortorelli Gym. Like the night before, Finlandia had the lead for all but 54 second the entire period.  Junior Natalie Bartle knocked down a jumper to put the Lions up 15-14 with 56 seconds left. Perrotta set to compete for Finlandia

HANCOCK — Tammy Perrotta (Battle Creek, Mich.) has committed to play for the Finlandia University softball team. She is planning on majoring in Criminal Justice.
