Houghton tops Traverse City Central 5-2 for first win of season
HOUGHTON — The Houghton Gremlins earned their first win of the season on Friday, beating the Traverse City Central Trojans 5-2 at Dee Stadium.
Houghton’s Taavi Rajala scored twice, while Dawson McKay, Seth Francois and Clayton Sayen each scored for the Gremlins (1-2).
McKay also tallied two assists to make for a three-point night.
The Gremlins held a 38-20 shot advantage, while Houghton’s Will Stier finished with 18 saves.
For Traverse City (2-2), Sebastian Brons-Piche and Charlie Douglass each scored.
Next, Houghton hosts Hartland today at 1 p.m., while Traverse City heads to Hancock for a 1 p.m. matchup.
