TAPIOLA — Chassell moved into a first-place tie in the Over 50 Softball League Thursday night.

Chassell pounded out 21 hits in a 13-3 win over South Range as Pat Duguay had four hits for the winners, who improved to 4-3.

Winning pitcher Steve Giddings and Charlie Kemppainen chipped in three raps.

Jay LeClaire, Nick Lindemann and Gordy Sedar had two hits each.

Brien Ricci laced out four hits for Range and Jed Pollard added three more. Joe Rossi was the losing pitcher.

In the other game, Tapiola was an 11-8 winner over Houghton.

Ricci had four hits for the winners and Dave Fehringer contributed three. Winning pitcher John Kinnunen added two more raps.

Dave Hoffman ripped four hits for Houghton and Kevin Tormala picked up three.

Steve Dunstan was the losing hurler as Houghton slipped to 4-3.
