Looking for a spark after trailing most of the championship game, Zion found what they were looking for in the final inning in order to come away with a one-run victory, claiming the Copper Country Slowpitch Church Softball League (CCSCSL) title.

Zion came into the playoffs sporting a record of 11-2 on the season and found a way to get to the championship game from there. They faced top-seeded Hope Fellowship (12-1) in the title game.

Ten area churches compete in the CCSCSL each season. Each team plays 13 regular season games on Tuesday evenings from May through July, with two weeks of single-elimination playoffs to determine the playoff title afterwards.

League Commissioner Aaron Green says that all local churches are welcome to join the CCSCSL in the coming years.

For more information, individuals and churches are encouraged to contact Green at aarongreen50@sbcglobal.net.
