Boys Roundup: Jets, Blue Bolts earn victories

Jets defeat Lakes, 72-61

LAKE LINDEN — With 21 points in the second quarter, the Jeffers Jets boys basketball team used a big first half to earn a victory on the road over the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes.

The Jets took advantage of free throws throughout the night, but especially in the second quarter, where they went 11-for-14.

Christian Hocking led the Jets with 28 points on the night. Brett Hill added 17.

The Lakes played better in the second half, but it was not enough to catch back up to the Jets before the final buzzer sounded.

Carter Crouch led the Lakes with 16 points.

Blue Bolts top Bulldogs, 61-53

HANCOCK — Despite scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter, the Hancock Bulldogs could not find enough points to answer five threes for the Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Blue Bolts’ Ashton Janke in a 61-53 loss for the Bulldogs.

Janke downed two in the first quarter, two in the second and one more in the third as the Blue Bolts found time and space to set him up for his shots. Janke finished his night with 24 points, a game high.

Connor LeClaire had a really strong first half for the Blue Bolts, scoring 13 of his 15 points before halftime.

Devin Raasio and Carson Chynoweth both hit threes of their own as part of the Bulldogs’ strong fourth quarter. Peyton Anderson led the way for the hosts with 17 points, followed closely by Raasio with 15.
