Copper Mountain Conference names All-Conference Team

LAKE LINDEN — Friday evening, the Copper Mountain Conference named its All-Conference teams for girls basketball. Ewen-Trout Creek swept the major awards with Elise Besonen earning Most Valuable Player, Paige Berglund named Defensive Player of the Year, and Jacky Besonen taking home Coach of the Year.

The Elite Team features Chassell’s Paige Sleeman, L’Anse’s Mijah Rice, Baraga’s Rylie Koskinen, Ontonagon’s Makenna Votila, and Wakefield-Marenisco’s Carlee Yon.

On the Copper Country Division first team. Baraga’s Koskinen was joined by teammates Jaylyne Linderman and Allison Durant. Sleeman was the lone representative from Chassell. Jeffers’ duo of Brenna Hill and Miranda Heinonen was also named to the team.

On the second team, Chassell’s Maelene Warren was joined by Baraga’s Reide Osterman and Corina Jahfetson, Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Jamie Hendrickson and Dollar Bay-Tamarack City’s Ashlea Datto.

Chassell’s Alia Palosaari and Republic-Michigamme’s Allie Radcliffe were given honorable mention.

On the Porcupine Mountain Division first team were Elise Besonen and Berglund from Ewen-Trout Creek, L’Anse’s Rice and Kailyn Voskuhl, Ontonagon’s Votila, and Wakefield-Marenisco’s Yon.

The second team features Ewen-Trout Creek’s Abbie LeGault, Ontonagon’s Teddy and Ella Menigoz, L’Anse’s Addison Mattson and Watersmeet’s Annabelle Besonen.

Ewen-Trout Creek’s Kate Borseth, Ontonagon’s Nicole Lukkari and Watersmeet’s Hailey Pallin earned honorable mention.
