21 Huskies get GLIAC academic honors
HOUGHTON — A total of 21 Michigan Tech men’s and women’s basketball student-athletes earned recognition from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for academics as the league announced its Winter Academic Excellence Awards and All-Academics teams on Thursday.
Dawson Bilski, Carter Johnston, TeeAaron Powell and Tommy Lucca were the men’s Huskies on the GLIAC All-Academic Team.
Jordan Ludescher, Ellie Mackay and Sloane Zenner were the Huskies’ women on the GLIAC All-Academic teams.
The Huskies men on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence team included Isaac Appleby, Trent Bell, Eric Carl, Jalen Carter, Kyle Clow and Owen White.
Tech women on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence team included Abbie Botz, Hannah Hobson, Clara Johnson, Michelle LaFave, Baille McGirk, Alex Rondorf, Cassidy Trotter and Ellie Walsh.
Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first-year transfer student. All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0-3.49. Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student-athletes that have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-4.0. Grades are based on marks from the fall semester.
A total of 644 student-athletes achieved academic recognition, including 296 on the All-Academic team and 348 on the Academic Excellence list.
