Hancock announces LL-H hockey co-op

HANCOCK — Hancock High School announced a new hockey co-op program with Lake Linden-Hubbell.

LL-H previously had a co-op with Jeffers High School. Hancock and LL-H last had a co-op for the 2001-02 season.

Hancock athletic director Chris Salani said the co-op helps solidify the program’s foundation.

“This was already an exciting time for Hancock Hockey,” Salani said. “This co-op relationship adds to that excitement, helping strengthen the foundation of our program and allowing for new opportunities for Lake Linden hockey players. I would like to thank (LL-H athletic director) Jack Kumpula for helping make this happen.”

Hancock athletic director Chris Salani also announced Hancock reinstated a junior varsity hockey team, and Hannah Impola is the head coach.

“We feel very fortunate to welcome Hannah to this new position on our hockey staff,” Salani said. “Her playing experience at the college level and coaching background at the high school level in Minnesota will be a big asset for our feeder program.”

Impola previously volunteered as a goalie coach for the Bulldogs. She was previously a head coach for eight season with the Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato and Hutchinson girls high school hockey teams in Minnesota in 2011-19. She was also a high school assistant coach for three seasons prior.

Impola played six seasons and lettered at Brainerd/Little Falls in high school after making the varsity team in seventh grade. She then played four years at NCAA Div. III Concordia College in 2003-07.

Impola will also work as an assistant coach with first-year Bulldogs head coach Scott Mikesch.

The Hancock JV team will co-op with Jeffers.
