Junior UPGA Golf Titles at Michigan Tech’s Portage Lake
HOUGHTON — Kyle Maki of Hancock shot an even par 72 to win the 16 – 18-year-old division in the UPGA Junior tournament at Portage Lake Golf Course on Monday, July 12. Finishing in second place was Marino Pisani of Hancock with a score of 75 and finishing in third place was Jackson Thieler of Colorado Springs with a score of 84.
In the 14 & 15 Division, Jackson Sintkowski of Hancock won the title with a score of 80. Lance Harry of Wakefield took second place with a score of 85. Bryce Hanner of Trimountain finished in third place with a 90.
In the 12 & 13 division, Connor Arko of Houghton shot a nine-hole score of 40 to beat Ian Hong of Houghton by one stroke. Third place went to Brendan Jukuri of Houghton with a score of 44.
The 10 & 11-year-old title was won by Landon Stein of Hancock with a score of 59 in the nine-hole tournament. Cameron Raffaelli of Atlantic Mine was second with a score of 60 and Ted Heinonen of Atlantic Mine was third with a score of 64.
The 8 & 9-year-old division won by Kirk Riley of Wakefield with an impressive nine-hole score of 39. Second place went to Matts Arko of Houghton with a score of 54. Finishing in third place was Emmet Hainault of Houghton with a score of 55.
Portage Lake hosted a Senior 3-Man Scramble Wednesday and that will be followed by a Couple’s Shamble Saturday, July 24.
