Four Huskies receive All-CCHA honors
Four Michigan Tech hockey players were named All-CCHA on Tuesday.
Brian Halonen, Blake Pietila, Colin Swoyer and Trenton Bliss received All-CCHA recognition.
Halonen, a Delano, Minnesota, senior forward, was named to the All-CCHA First Team. Bliss, Pietila and Swoyer were named to the All-CCHA Second Team.
Halonen led the CCHA with 16 goals and 36 points in conference games. At the end of the regular season, he was second in the nation with 44 points, and fourth with 21 goals. He also led the country in even-strength goals. He was fifth in the conference with 20 assists in CCHA games. His performance was highlighted by an 11-game point streak Dec. 30 to Feb. 12, scoring eight goals and 10 assists.
Bliss, an Appleton, Wisconsin, senior forward, scored 12 goals and 28 assists this season. He was third in the CCHA with 21 assists and 31 points in conference games.
Swoyer, a Hinsdale, Illinois, senior defenseman, scored five goals and 18 assists in 35 games. He led CCHA defensemen with four power-play goals, which was also seventh among all conference players. He was second among conference defensemen with 13 assists and third with 18 points in conference games.
Pietila was second in the conference with a 1.99 goals-against average, 16 wins, five shutouts, and 614 saves. He was fourth with a .911 save percentage. He’s also a Mike Richter Award semifinalist for the second straight season, and a Hobey Baker candidate for the second time.
