Calumet’s Nelson named WestPAC boys’ track and field MVP

Less than a week after being named Calumet High School’s George Gipp All-American Award winner as the school’s top male athlete, Dryden Nelson collected another accolade Monday.

Nelson was named the boys MVP of the WestPAC Track and Field awards.

Houghton’s Eric Weiss was named the top boys distance runner. Calumet’s Sincere Brooks and Negaunee’s Isaiah Wood shared top thrower honors. Iron Mountain’s Matthew Colavecchi was named the top boys sprinter.

Houghton’s Erik Johnson was named girls’ Coach of the Year.

West Iron County’s Danica Shamion was named MVP of the girls division.

Houghton’s Ellie Wagner was named the top sprinter. Negaunee’s Lauren Ossenheimer and Alyssa Hill were named the top distance runner and thrower, respectively.

Negaunee’s Vickie Paupore was named boys’ Coach of the Year.
