In area volleyball action on Tuesday, the L’Anse Purple Hornets earn a match victory while Lake Linden-Hubbell, Chassell and Dollar Bay-Tamarack City all lost.

The Panthers took the first set 27-25 before dropping the next two to West Iron, 25-6 and 25-10. The Panthers stormed back with a 25-17 win in the fourth set, but the Wykons won the tiebreaker, 15-11.

Trisha Pietila had 11 aces and three kills for the Panthers. Kylee Sohlden had five kills and one block. Saige Hietala had seven kills and five blocks.

Megan Holombo had 15 digs, and Kierah Hietala added nine assists.

The Purple Hornets defeated the Lakes. L’Anse jumped out to a 2-0 match lead with 25-21 and 25-15 wins. The Lakes won the third set, 26-24, but the Purple Hornets came back with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.

The Blue Bolts fell short in the first set to Ironwood, 25-19, before dropping the second set, 25-8. In the third set, the Red Devils sealed the match win with a 25-20 set victory.
