Tennis drops meet at LSSU

SAULT STE. MARIE — The Michigan Tech Huskies men’s and women’s tennis teams competed at Lake Superior State on Saturday. The Lakers won 4-3 in the women’s match and 5-2 in the men’s contest.

The Huskies secured the doubles point in the women’s match when Emily Cojocaru and Caoimhe McDonnell won at No. 1 and Emily Rose and Chiara Heinz clinched the point at No. 3.

Emily Rose won 1-6, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 singles and Marina Fernandez also came back for a three-set victory at No. 6 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.

The men’s team also won the doubles points with Jack Lin and Leon Sell earning a 6-4 with in the top spot and Eli Pinnoo and Landon Coates winning 6-4 in the No. 2 position.

Leon Sell was undefeated on the day with a three-set come-from-behind victory in No. 1 singles.

The Huskies are back on the road at Wayne State on Saturday this week.
