To the Editor: Think about this important point. Creation was mature from its birth. It didn’t have to undergo growth and development. God formed mankind full grown in every detail including all animals, ocean dwellers and vegetation. In fact the universe had the appearance of age right from its origin. Thanks to council offered

I want to extend a HUGE thank you to the members of the Houghton County City Council for approving funding for the Pewabic Street Community Garden. The Pewabic Street Garden creates a beautiful sanctuary in the middle of our city that supports an environment of farm to table thinking. The garden hosts school and community groups throughout the summer and fall to learn more about planting and growing vegetables. Something that is necessary

I served in the United States Army in the mid-1980’s, during the Cold War years. I spent four years training every day for war with Russia. Yet, when the Soviet Union released the Warsaw Pact nations in a generally peaceful fashion, and eventually broke up completely, I was ready to welcome the new improved Russia with open arms. I particularly remember my pleasure and optimism as the suddenly-former Soviet nations voluntarily cooperated to compete in the 1992 Olympics as a “Unified Team.” It seemed like a breath of fresh air — like the world was headed in a pretty good ...
