To the editor: Perhaps we are afraid of God’s unconditional love for us because we’ve experienced rejection or abandonment in our lives. We silently wonder “What if God lets me down and I get hurt again? We prefer the “comfort” of our fears to the risk of letting go and trusting in God’s love for us, just as we are. Unitarian Universalists support call for Line 5 closure

To the editor: In the April 17/18 Weekend Mining Journal, leaders of the Episcopal Church in Northern Michigan and the UP called Line 5 an “unacceptable risk that must go.” The Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship joins our Episcopalian brothers and sisters in calling for the closure of the Line 5 oil pipeline which currently runs under the Straits of Mackinac. To the editor: Responding to 4/14 Mining Gazette article, “Enbridge Line 5 pipeline: What you should know,” for ten years citizens and experts investigated risks to our Great Lakes from the aging Canadian Line 5 pipeline. Suddenly, with the pipeline’s easement revoked and eviction date looming, we are seeing a stream of safety claims, claims that have already been investigated and found to be false. To the editor: Thank you for the article regarding the Keweenaw Spay/Neuter Assistance Group’s Financial Assistance Program. We are grateful to get the word out to the community regarding the help that we provide to pet owners. There are just a couple of corrections I would like to make---we provide financial assistance to pet owners who cannot afford the full cost of the surgery, not to people who can as the article stated. Also, we currently have 175 pets on our spay/neuter assistance list, not 75. We will continue to add pets to this list and will be starting our fund-raising ...

To the editor: Alfred Erickson American Legion Post 186 would like to thank everyone who supported our spaghetti dinner held on April 11.
