Houghton County absentee ballots arrive

HOUGHTON — Houghton County absentee ballots arrived Friday, Houghton County Clerk Jennifer Kelly said.

City and township ballots are getting ballots out to those who have requested them, Kelly said.

With most township offices closed to the public, people wanting to vote in person should contact their township clerk to make an appointment or arrangements to make an absentee ballot.

Houghton and Hancock’s offices are open to the public.

Many municipalities also offer drop-boxes where voters can hand-deliver their absentee ballots.

They include Adams Township, Calumet Township, Chassell Township, Hancock, Houghton, Franklin Township, Osceola Township, Portage Township, Stanton Township, Torch Lake Township and Spurr Township (Baraga County). An updated list of sites is being kept at lwvccmi.org.

Duncan Township voters are asked to contact their clerk directly to make arrangements for hand-delivering the ballot to the clerk.
