Suspect in fatal stabbing captured
MARQUETTE — A male suspect wanted in connection to a fatal stabbing in the city of Marquette early Sunday morning has been captured.
According to a Facebook post from the Marquette Police Department, the 38-year-old suspect, who was considered armed and dangerous, has been apprehended. According to MPD, the incident occurred at 1:03 a.m. when a 61-year old Marquette resident was stabbed in the 200 block of Furnace Street. The victim died a short time later at Upper Peninsula Health System-Marquette.
Details of the apprehension were not immediately available.
The Marquette police were assisted by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab, UP Health Systems EMS, Marquette Fire Department and Northern Michigan University Police Department.
