Alleged meth lab found in Houghton
HOUGHTON — A person arrested in Houghton for allegedly possessing methamphetamine could face additional charges after police found what appeared to be a meth lab at the residence.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post served the arrest warrant around 2 p.m. Tuesday After further investigation, they discovered narcotics in the residence.
After a search warrant was obtained, members of the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) searched the residence and found evidence of a meth lab. Officers found numerous methamphetamine manufacturing devices and multiple components for making meth.
The suspect is lodged at the Houghton County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are being sought through the Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office.
Troopers were assisted by the Houghton City Police Department, UPSET and the Houghton City Fire Department.
