Civil War vet to be honored
DUNCAN TOWNSHIP — Civil War veteran Sgt. Hiram White will be honored with the dedication of a monument at his previously unmarked grave at the Kenton Cemetery 1 p.m. May 20.
White served in the 25th Infantry Regiment, which was made up of Black soldiers. He enlisted in the Army in February 1864, and appointed a sergeant two months later.
He was living in Kenton at the time of his death in 1917.
