CALUMET — Calumet Lions Club held its 17th annual Hunting and Sports Dinner Sept. 19 at the beautiful Siskiwit Reception Hall in Calumet, catered by the Kangas Cafe, in Hancock. This is the Club’s largest fundraiser which is held yearly in the fall. Once again the event was sold out early and hosted 41 sponsors. All of the event’s proceeds are returned to the local community to help the many programs and projects of the Lions Club, including CLK HS Scholarships, dictionaries, and eye exams, just to name a few. In addition, the ongoing key project is the Calumet Lake’s Park which now includes a disc golf course, lavatory facilities with a pavilion.

In addition to the sponsors, donations of gift certificates; food items; hotel gift baskets with weekend getaways; sports memorabilia; golf items; tools and many outdoor items were donated from the hundreds of local merchants from Houghton to Copper Harbor and raffled throughout the evening.
