Baraga County Business Community to offer incentives to ‘Shop Small’ on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30.

L’ANSE — The Baraga County Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with many in the local business community, has announced it will promote local shopping specials and give away free refreshments on Small Business Saturday with official endorsement from the nationally-recognized “Shop Small” campaign. The event will take place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is Nov. 30 this year.

In 2010 American Express launched Small Business Saturday to encourage the community to Shop Small and focus on local businesses. Total reported spending among U.S. consumers who said they shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on the day reached a record high of an estimated $17.8 billion, according to data released from the 2018 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey from American Express and the National Federation of Independent Business.

Shoppers can start their day with free coffee, donuts and a free coupon sheet of local savings at the Shop Small Welcome Station located at the Baraga County Chamber office at 1 N. Main St in L’Anse from 9 a.m. to noon.
