Dr. Franklin St. John, a native of L’Anse, has established a $1 million charitable trust that will fund college scholarships for L’Anse graduates, at the latter of his, and his wife’s deaths. According to Dr. St. John, he grew up poor and worked hard to overcome his difficult start. He eventually graduated from Michigan Tech with a doctorate, learned several languages, and travelled the world. He is excited to establish this scholarship and hopes to help others from the L’Anse area have the same opportunities. His full life story, of failures and successes, can be read in his biography, Success Stories of a Failure Analyst by LA Times best-selling author Greg Olear.
