Houghton Co. suspect back in custody after fleeing

HOUGHTON — A domestic violence suspect was in custody Saturday a day after fleeing police who responded to the scene. Houghton County sheriff’s deputies had responded to a report of a domestic assault at 7 p.m. Friday night in Calumet. The suspect was identified as Jason Kramer, who was out on bond on other charges and had cut his GPS tether, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office said in a release. WUPPDR household waste and recycling survey addresses disposal region wide

The Western U.P. Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) is conducting public surveys on trash and recycling habits and experiences in Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties. WUPPDR has created two separate surveys: one for hazardous waste disposal and another for recycling and compost. Common household hazardous materials include paint, compact florescent lightbulbs, aerosol canisters, and batteries among others.
