Reaction to seaplanes in Hubbell

This letter is in response to the public hearing that was held by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy hearing on Thursday, May 23, regarding the seaplane airport in Hubbell. The reason for the public hearing was because of a “misunderstanding” that inconveniently requires the owner and EGLE to present a public comment period on a controversial topic: a loud seaplane airport in Torch Lake. Did German Christians cause the holocaust? Nazis executed German army officers who tried to assassinate Adolf Hitler to stop his war against the Jews. Many Germans didn’t know about nazi atrocities. Of 6 million Jews who lost their lives, 3% died in Germany, but 97% died elsewhere. Half (3 million) perished in Poland. German voters didn’t elect Hitler. We are writing in response to the opinion letter titled “Ahmeek Manufacturer Aims to be Good Neighbors,” published on April 24, 2024 in the Gazette. While we appreciate Neuvokas’s effort to address community concerns, several points warrant clarification. First, Neuvokas has consistently attempted to placate us with empty gestures since 2021, when formal complaints were initiated by Ahmeek residents. The Wisconsin Windigo is a Green Bay-based team that plays in the North American Hockey League. Their connection to the Copper Country? The coach, Blake Hietala, is formerly from Houghton and played for Michigan Tech. Their roster does or did include two local players who aren’t regulars and now two MTU prospects not from our area.
