I’m 10 years old. I support Ukraine by going to local protests at the lift bridge with my dad and my younger brothers every Sunday. Most of the time it’s all fine. There are hundreds of people that support Ukraine, and during protests, there are people that honk and wave every week. Besides us, there are some other young children and very old people that come to the protests. Publishing Stephen Moore’s February 21 editorial entitled “It’s now or never for school choice everywhere” is irresponsible in today’s educational climate. Not only is Moore’s track record questionable in his own field of economics, he’s stepped far out of his lane to provide a misinformed diatribe about how to fix education in America. Hats off to many

After a two-year hiatus the Finnish Theme Committee of Hancock, hosts of Heikinpäivä, wondered if we could once again rally the energy and community interest in another celebration. Rather than wonder, we put one foot in front of another and on the 28th of January we pulled off another great Mid-Winter festival. Rethink your letter policy

I was disappointed to read your editorial of Feb 8 in which you stated the criteria for letters to the editor. Perhaps I misunderstand, but it appears you will not be printing letters that pertain to national/international issues. Part of a healthy community is an open exchange of ideas regarding events - local, statewide, national and international. I feel that this policy contributes to something that is already a crisis in this country - the division of our community into factions. People are only talking to people who think like they do. Pep Band apologizes

In response to “An open letter to the MTU Pep Band,” published Feb. 15, the Huskies Pep Band would like to apologize for the chant that originated in our section at the Friday night Winter Carnival hockey game against BGSU. What began as an uncouth expression of frustration between a few members quickly spread within our organization and the rest of the student section.
