To the editor: It is with heartfelt gratitude that I write to thank the employees of the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department for the valuable work they provide to our community. I depend on the Health Department to help me, and all the people of our community, in our efforts to avoid getting COVID-19. Wearing masks, social distancing, and not congregating in large groups are some of the commonsense ways people can reduce the risk of getting COVID-19. The pursuit of happiness

To the editor: This pandemic is challenging us.  For those that are health vulnerable, the prospects of death seem real.  For those that are invested in industries adversely affected by the regulatory changes that have been implemented for public health, the death of a dream or financial ruin is real. Baraga County has lost its mind

To the editor: The Baraga County Republican Party letter to the editor was predictable political spin. The BCRP praised the radical right-wing, anti-government Baraga County officials for refusing to enforce lawful orders that are designed to slow down the spread of the coronavirus to protect peoples’ health. To the editor: I join a growing consensus of voices that are calling for the resignation of our representative to the U.S. House of Representatives, Jack Bergman, for his participation in the storming of the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6. A number of letters to the editor in the Gazette recently have called for his resignation, and there is a Facebook poll set up to determine how many of his constituents think he should resign.
