Northern Chill host successful softball tournament

HANCOCK — The Northern Chill Girls fastpitch softball organization held their third annual “Summer Chill Showdown” at the Hancock Driving Park on June 26, 27, and 28. Twenty-three teams competed at four age levels: 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, and a high school eligible age bracket.

The Copper Country Crush won the four-team 10U division defeating Negaunee in the first championship game.

The Northern Chill won the six-team 12U age division defeating Kingsford in the championship, and dominating with an overall run differential of 54-4 in its four games.

Kingsford won the seven-team 14U division with a victory over Sault Ste. Marie in the championship.

Negaunee won the six-team high school age division in a thrilling 3-2 come from behind victory over Northwoods in the weekend’s final championship game.

Northern Chill is a nonprofit organization (northernchillsoftball.com) dedicated to providing local female athletes the opportunity to complete in fast pitch softball tournaments at the 10U, 12U, 14U, and high school levels, with the overall goal of creating more competitive high school fastpitch softball teams in our area.
