CALUMET — While his high school hockey career is over, Calumet Copper Kings captain Dean Loukus is still earning accolades for yet another strong season.

He recently was named Mr. Hockey in the state of Michigan, becoming the third Copper Kings player to do so since 1994.

Loukus scored 21 goals, 39 assists and 60 points, all of which led the Copper Kings this season. He added another four goals, including the game-winner against Houghton in the championship game, and eight points in the Region 17 tournament, helping the Copper Kings advance to the state tournament, where they lost in the finals.

He added six more points, all assists, in the state tournament to help the Copper Kings finish as runners-up.

The previous two Copper Kings to earn Mr. Hockey honors were Bob Rangus in 1998 and Ben Johnson in 2011.

Starting at $3.50/week.
