Baraga’s Osterman named CMC’s Most Valuable Player

Baraga senior Reide Osterman was named the Copper Mountain Conference’s Most Valuable Player for the 2021-22 basketball season.

Osterman was also named to the CMC Elite Team along with teammate Corina Jahfetson.

The Vikings were well represented in this year’s Copper Mountain Conference selections, as two other players were named to the All-Conference Teams. Osterman and Jahfetson were named to the Copper Country Division First Team. Makennah Hendrickson and Kylie Michaelson were named to the Second Team.

The Vikings were named the conference’s Team of the Year, and coach Tyler Larson was named Coach of the Year.

Ontonagon senior Makennah Uotila was named Defensive Player of the Year. She was also named to the Elite Team.

Kate Borseth (Ewen-Trout Creek), Emily Jokela (Lake Linden-Hubbell) and Ashlea Datto (Dollar Bay-Tamarack City) were also named to the Elite Team.

Jokela, a standout freshman at Lake Linden-Hubbell who recently set a school record scoring 48 points in a game, was a Copper Country Division First Team selection.

Ewen-Trout Creek eighth-grader Emma Besonen was a Porcupine Mountain Division First Team selection. Her teammate Kate Borseth, a junior, was also a First Team selection.
