HOUGHTON — The Michigan Tech volleyball team announced its 2024 schedule Friday. The Huskies will play 28 matches in the fall with 17 GLIAC contests and 12 games at the SDC Gym. Eight of their opponents went to the NCAA Tournament last season and seven were ranked in the AVCA Top 25.

Tech will play three teams from the RMAC and two from the NSIC–two of the better volleyball conferences in Division II. Other strong nonconference opponents are Gannon–an annual top team in the PSAC, and for the first-time ever, from the Peach Belt Conference, Lander, who has been to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments. The Huskies also host former GLIAC foe and current GMAC power Findlay. The Huskies bested the Oilers last season in a 3-2 thriller at the Midwest Crossover.

Tech begins the season with a tournament at the Colorado School of Mines. The Huskies will face Regis to open the schedule–a perennial top team in the nation–on September 6. Tech also faces Gannon on Friday and then wraps out the trip against Colorado Mesa and tournament host Colorado School of Mines on September 7.

The Huskies host the Up North Tournament at the SDC on September 12-13 in collaboration with Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud, and Northern Michigan. UMD is the home-opening opponent with Findlay, SCSU, and Lander also facing Tech.

The GLIAC schedule gets underway the following weekend with a pair of road matches at Purdue Northwest (Sept. 20) and Parkside (Sept. 21). Tech then hosts Ferris State (Sept. 27) and Purdue Northwest (Sept. 28).

The Black and Gold continue a four-match homestand against Lake Superior State (Oct. 4) and Saginaw Valley State (Oct. 5) to begin October. The Huskies travel to Northern Michigan (Oct. 10) and then host first-time opponent Roosevelt (Oct. 12) before the annual Midwest Region Crossover on October 18-19. Purdue Northwest (Nov. 2).
