Local newspapers must tell both sides

There was no mention of the former president indicted in multiple criminal trials, including alleged violations of the Espionage Act, but two attacks on our sitting president (Opinion page, July 14), who is old but not senile and has managed to avoid a recession and curb inflation post-pandemic (eggs $1.19/dozen and gas $3.15/gallon) and continues to create jobs while unemployment reps to historic lows. This is Bidenomics: public investment in infrastructure (who else will repair our crumbling bridges and remove dangerous lead pipes?); support for unions and relief for crushing student ...

Faith Perspective: Mankind’s downfall

This letter is in response to a recent writer desiring an explanation of why God allows evil to exist of planet Earth. Obviously, this person looks only for sinful results in both the Bible and our world to support his anti-God belief. The writer is correct is acknowledging evil, but I believe he attributes this to the wrong person. Man is the culprit not God. Yes, Adam and Eve’s disobedience was mankind’s downfall. As for Satan (Lucifer), he was originally created as the highest of all angels. Note three facts about angels: they weren’t created in the image of God, ...

Faith Perspective: Bible tells story of man’s creation

It doesn’t contradict the Bible to say the universe is millions of years old. Mindless natural forces didn’t create something from nothing. God is the creator. Dinosaurs existed long before God made man. God exiled Satan to the earth in that prehistoric era. That explains his symbolic reptilian identity (Rev. 12:3-9). Satan’s rebellion ruined the earth (Isaiah 14:12-20), causing it to be dark and flooded: “… darkness was upon the face of the deep and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters” (Gen. 1:2) God repaired the earth and created new life forms ...

Miscarriages exist – around 20 million a year. 6. Storms, famines, and natural disasters have killed millions. 7. Wars, including religious wars, have killed millions. 8. Addictive drugs exist and kill hundreds of ...
