NCHSS announces top 100 safest cities in US

The National Council for Home Safety and Security (NCHSS) announced its annual ranking of the Top 100 Safest Cities in the US. After its safety analysis of all cities within individual states, NCHSS has compiled a list of the safest cities across the country: those least likely to have its residents encounter violent or property crime on a day-to-day basis, and those most likely to have police officers available to tend to crime as it arises.

States with the top 10 safest cities include Massachusetts, Colorado, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.

Crime continues to decline in the US, as the country trends towards becoming safer every year. NCHSS research shows that violent and property crime rates in the US have decreased since last year, falling 3% and 6.3%, respectively. Although violence seems to be more present than ever before, it is evident that with every passing day, the US marches towards a safer tomorrow.

The Top 100 Safest Cities in the US Report is a culmination of the data provided by the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting tool and NCHSS internal population research. Furthermore, it should be noted that two segments were removed from the analysis: cities with populations fewer than 10,000 and cities that chose not to submit crime reports to the FBI.
