The Calumet Theatre will present the 120th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, Mar. 20, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.
In light of the recent developments concerning COVID-19 and public safety, the Calumet Theatre Board of Directors held a special meeting on Friday, Mar. 13. After thoughtful discussion and careful deliberation, the Board voted to present the Theatre’s 120th Anniversary celebration, as previously announced, on Friday, Mar. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The event will also feature the exclusive reveal of the Theatre’s 2020 performing arts schedule as well as a concert from Erik Koskinen.
This event will take place operating under the public safety restrictions of the State of Michigan’s Executive Order 2020-5, which prohibits gatherings of 250 people or more. A maximum of 220 tickets will be sold for the event. That number combined with staff, volunteers, and band members will fall below the maximum number of 250 allowed by the Governor’s executive order. The Calumet Theatre will continue to diligently monitor any further state or federal recommendations that are issued, up until the actual start time of the show.
The Calumet Theatre has a maximum seating capacity of 700 with both floor level and balcony seating which will allow for adequate “public distancing” as recommended by the Center for Disease Control. Though tickets have been and are being sold as a reserved seating event, Theatre patrons will be allowed to move to seating that will facilitate this public distancing. In addition, hand sanitizer will be readily available for all patrons and staff at multiple locations within the facility.
If you are experiencing any symptoms that could turn out to be a COVID-19 viral infection (fever, cough, shortness of breath; https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html), the Calumet Theatre requests that you please do not attend this event.
